AI Video Ad Agency or AI Video Tool? An Honest 2026 Guide
You are good at your trade. Making fresh video ads every month is a different job, and every AI video app says it takes minutes.
So should you open an app, or hire an AI video ad agency?
A DIY AI video tool costs $0 to about $29 a month, but you do every step. A freelancer charges per ad, such as $130 to $950 on Dribbble. One agency that makes and runs ads charges $500 a month. A done-for-you AI ad team like Ad Factory starts at $97 a month, and you approve the script and scenes.
We are 30 Second Productions and Ad Factory is ours, so weigh that as you read. We took these prices from each provider's own page on November 4, 2026. Further down you will find a chart of who does what, and a brief you can copy.
Key takeaways
- A DIY tool is the lowest bill, but you own all 7 steps of every ad.
- With a done-for-you team, you own 4 things: the brief, 2 approvals and the posting.
- Freelance video listings on one Dribbble page run from $15 to $5,000.
- Free plans from 3 big tools (HeyGen, Synthesia and Creatify) add a watermark, so they work as tests, not as paid ads.

What is an AI video ad agency, and how is it different from an AI video tool?
An AI video ad agency, also called a done-for-you AI ad team, uses AI tools to make your video ads for you, checks them, and hands you a finished ad. An AI video tool is an app you use yourself: you write the words, pick the look, make the video, fix the mistakes and check it.
Both often use the same kind of AI underneath. The real difference is who sits in the chair.
With a tool such as CapCut, Canva, HeyGen, Synthesia or Creatify, you pay a monthly fee and do the work. With an agency, you pay more per month, send a short brief, and spend your time approving instead of editing.
UGC (user-generated content) is an ad that looks like a regular person filmed it on a phone. An AI avatar is a computer-made presenter who looks and sounds like a real person, and many tools now use one to make UGC-style ads.

What do AI video tools like CapCut, HeyGen and Synthesia cost in 2026?
The entry plans for popular DIY AI video tools cost between $0 and about $29 a month for one person (CapCut lists pounds), going by each provider's pricing page on November 4, 2026. CapCut, Canva, HeyGen, Synthesia and Creatify all have a free plan, but free plans come with limits such as a watermark or a small monthly allowance.
| Tool | Free plan | First paid plan | Next plan up | What the price buys |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CapCut | Yes, basic editing | Pro, £21.99 a month (shown in local currency) | Ultra, £58 a month | AI credits each month; AI video is charged per second |
| Canva | Yes | Pro, US$144 a year for one person | Business, US$250 a year per person | A shared monthly AI allowance; AI video clips need "Ultra AI" |
| HeyGen | 3 videos a month, watermarked, up to 1 minute | Creator, $29 a month | Pro $49, Business $149 a month | AI presenters, plus your own custom avatar |
| Synthesia | 10 minutes of video a month, watermarked | Starter, $9 first month, then $19 a month | Pro, $89 a month | AI avatars; about 12 extra minutes a month on Starter |
| Creatify | Yes, 10 credits a month, up to 2 video ads, watermarked | Standard, $15 a month ($10 on the annual plan) | Pro $55, Max $95 a month | Credits for about 11 avatar videos of 15 seconds on Standard |
CapCut showed us prices in pounds, and its page says prices are "for reference only" until you sign in. Check the price in your own currency before you buy.
The subscription is the small cost. The bigger cost is your time, because the app does not know your offer, your town or the questions your customers ask. A new wrench does not fix a leak. Someone still has to crawl under the sink.
Pro tip: Make one real ad on a free plan before you pay for anything. If that first ad is not finished within a week, a paid plan will not change the result.
Who does the work: you, a freelancer or an agency?
With a DIY AI video tool, you do every step of the ad yourself. With a freelancer, you write the brief and check the work. With a traditional agency or a done-for-you AI ad team, the team makes and checks the ad, and your job is mostly approving.
Every video ad, however it is made, goes through the same seven steps. Here is who usually does each one.
| Step | DIY AI tool | Freelancer | Traditional agency | Done-for-you AI ad team (Ad Factory) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Offer and message | You | You | You and the agency | You, in a short brief |
| 2. Script (the words said or shown on screen) | You (the app may suggest lines) | Freelancer or you | Agency | Team writes, you approve |
| 3. Scenes, often as a storyboard (a simple picture for each line) | You | Freelancer | Agency | Team draws a storyboard, you approve |
| 4. Make the video | You, inside the app | Freelancer | Agency | Team |
| 5. Captions, logo, the right size for each app | You | Freelancer | Agency | Team |
| 6. Quality check (wrong phone number, odd hands, a claim you cannot back up) | You | Freelancer, then you | Agency, then you | A checker and a manager, then you |
| 7. Post or run it | You | You, in most cases | Often the agency | You |
The hour figures you will find online mostly come from companies selling a tool or a service, so count the steps you own instead. With a DIY tool you own all seven. With a done-for-you team you own the brief, two approvals and the posting.
Your time has a price, even when no one sends you a bill. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the 2025 median pay for film and video editors and camera operators at $36.10 an hour, which is a fair floor for what editing work is worth.
Say you run a two-van plumbing business and your billed hour is worth $100. If one DIY ad takes you three evenings of an hour each, that ad costs you about $300 of time on top of the app.
Tools like HeyGen and Creatify are built around AI presenters.
Here is a Yapper ad our team made, and the presenter is AI, not a real customer.

How do AI tools, freelancers and agencies compare on price?
DIY AI tools are the cheapest in dollars, freelancers charge per ad, and agencies charge a monthly fee with your ad budget on top. Done-for-you AI ad teams vary the most, from a low monthly plan to thousands a month. These prices come from each provider's own page, checked November 4, 2026.
| Option | Example prices (from their page) | About how many ads | Who makes it | Who checks it | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DIY AI video tool | HeyGen Creator $29 a month; Synthesia Starter $19 a month; Creatify Standard $15 a month | Creatify Standard: about 11 avatar videos of 15 seconds a month | You | You | Owners who like editing, or have a staff member who does |
| Freelancer | Dribbble listings: $130 for a short AI ad, from $200 for a Facebook or YouTube ad, $950 for a premium AI commercial | 1 ad per price | The freelancer, from your brief | The freelancer, then you | One ad or a small batch with a clear brief |
| Traditional agency | LYFE Marketing $500 a month, with ad management | Listed as "2 Vertical Videos, 1 Actor per Quarter" | The agency team | The agency team | Businesses that want ads made and run, with the budget for it |
| Other done-for-you AI ad teams | Shhots $499 a month; Creatify Studio $100 to $200 a video; EzUGC $4,000 a month; Admiral Media €10,000 a batch | Shhots 30 a month; Creatify Studio 25 to 100 or more a month; EzUGC 50 a month; Admiral Media 20 ads of up to 15 seconds a batch | The provider's team | Varies, so ask; at Shhots you approve the plan before anything is made | Brands that want 20 or more ads a month |
| Done-for-you AI ad team (Ad Factory) | From $97 a month; free image ad, plus a video script and storyboard, no card | About 3 short videos or 2 song ads on the Base plan | Script writer, storyboard artist, video maker | A quality checker and a project manager, then your approval | Owners who want steady, checked ads and only want to approve |
A monthly price means little until you divide by finished ads you would really use.
A few fair notes on that table. Freelance prices are set by each seller. Video listings on that Dribbble page run from $15 to $5,000, so the same job can cost very different amounts.
LYFE Marketing's plan includes running and tuning the ads, which is a different job from making them. Its page also says you pay your ad budget to the ad platform on top of the fee. Its "per Quarter" wording does not make clear if the 2 videos are a month or a quarter, so ask before you sign.
Creatify Studio lists a 48-hour turnaround, and Shhots says you upload the finished ads to your own ad accounts.
If you want 30 videos a month, Shhots costs less per video. If you want a few a month, Ad Factory starts lower.
When is a DIY AI video tool the better buy?
A DIY AI video tool is the better buy when you, or someone on your team, enjoy editing and have regular hours to give it. It also wins when you need many quick test versions, have your own footage to cut, or have almost no budget.
Be honest with yourself about these cases:
- You like the work. If editing feels like a hobby, a plan of $15 to $29 a month is hard to beat.
- You need volume for testing. Once you know the app, you can make several versions of one hook and see which one people stop for.
- You already have footage. CapCut is built for cutting your own phone clips into short ads.
- You need training or how-to videos, not ads. Synthesia's avatar videos suit staff training and product walk-throughs.
- Your budget is zero. The free plans from Canva and Synthesia cost nothing to try. A watermarked video works as a test, not as a paid ad, so check before you plan around a free tier.
Say you run a gym and a coach on your team already films workouts. A CapCut or Canva plan plus that coach's clips may be all you need, and paying a team would be money you do not have to spend.
When should you hire a freelancer or a traditional agency instead?
Hire a freelancer when you need one ad, have a clear idea of what you want, and are happy to check the work yourself. Hire a traditional agency when you want real filming of your people or place, or when you want someone to make and run the ads for you.
A freelancer suits a one-off job, like a grand-opening ad for a restaurant. Ask how many rounds of changes are included, when you get the files, and whether you can use the ad anywhere.
AI cannot honestly show your real crew on a real roof. If your ad needs real faces, a freelancer with a camera or a local production company is the right call. In November 2026, Creatify put agency video at $500 to $5,000 a video in one place and up to $10,000 in another. That is a seller's own figure, so get quotes.
A traditional agency suits a business that wants the whole job off its plate, including the ad budget. Big creative services cost far more. In November 2026, Superside listed a $15,000 monthly minimum on an annual term, plus a $1,000 monthly software fee.

What does a done-for-you AI ad team actually do?
A done-for-you AI ad team writes the script, draws the storyboard, makes the ad with AI tools and checks it before you see it, while you approve the script and storyboard. You never write a prompt or open an editing app.
At 30 Second Productions, that team is Ad Factory. It is "AI-powered, human managed": every video ad has a script writer, a storyboard artist, a video maker and a quality checker, and a project manager watches it before it goes to you.
You tell us about your business and your offer. You approve the script, then the storyboard, and most ads are ready in about 24 hours of a complete, approved brief.
The styles are song ads, Yapper ads (a real-looking AI presenter talks to camera), claymation (made with AI tools, not hand-made stop motion), B-roll product ads (close-up product shots with a voice over) and image ads.
Here is a song ad that tells a plumber's story, and the singing voice is AI.
Want one about your business? Get a free script and storyboard
Plans are $97, $249 or $397 a month, for about 3, 10 or 17 short videos. On the Base plan, that is about 3 short videos or 2 song ads.
Each plan gives you credits, and each ad uses some of them. Unused credits roll over for 60 days, every plan includes 1 free holiday video a month, and you can cancel any time.
You can start free with no card: one free image ad with a small watermark, plus one free video script and storyboard for your business. The finished video needs a plan or credits.
If you only want one ad, you can buy a single song ad, Yapper ad or claymation ad without a plan.
Here is a claymation sample for a made-up plumber, made with AI tools, not hand-made stop motion.
Rather approve ads than build them? Make your free image ad
Now the limits. We make the ads; we do not run them, so you still post them or run them in your own ad account. If we made the mistake, we fix it free. Each song video includes one free round of changes.
Should you use an AI video tool or hire an agency?
Use a tool if you will do the work, and a team if you only want to approve. Freelancers suit one clear ad, and traditional agencies suit real filming or ads run for you.
- Pick a DIY AI video tool if you enjoy editing, have a few spare hours for every ad, and want the lowest monthly bill.
- Pick a freelancer if you need one or two ads, know exactly what you want, and will check the work yourself.
- Pick a traditional agency if you want real filming or want the agency to run your ads, and you have a budget from about $500 a month.
- Pick a done-for-you AI ad team if you want new, checked ads every month and only want to approve the script and scenes.
If you are still unsure, run a small test. Make one ad yourself on a free plan, get a free script and storyboard from a team, and compare the thinking and the hours you spent.

What should you put in a video ad brief?
A good brief names your business, your town, your one offer, who the ad is for, and what you want people to do next. The same brief works for a freelancer, an agency or a done-for-you team.
Here is a brief you can copy and fill in:
Hi, I run [business] in [town]. I want [number] short vertical video ads for Facebook and Instagram. The offer is [offer, with price or deadline]. The ad is for [who, such as homeowners with older houses]. After watching, I want people to [call, book online or visit]. Please use my logo and these colors: [colors]. Do not say [anything you cannot promise].
Before you pay anyone, ask these five questions:
- Who writes the script, and do I approve it before you make the video?
- Who checks the ad for mistakes before I see it?
- How many rounds of changes are included, and what does an extra round cost?
- How long from my brief to a finished ad?
- Do you run the ads, or only make them?
Frequently asked questions
How much does an AI video ad agency cost?
As of November 2026, published prices run from under $100 a month to €10,000 a batch. Shhots lists $499 a month for 30 videos, Creatify Studio lists $100 to $200 a video, and Admiral Media lists €10,000 for 20 ads. Ad Factory from 30 Second Productions starts at $97 a month for about 3 short videos.
Is it cheaper to make video ads yourself with AI?
In dollars, yes. A DIY plan such as HeyGen Creator, $29 a month in November 2026, costs less than paying anyone to make ads. Once you count your own hours for writing, editing and checking every ad, a done-for-you team can work out cheaper for a busy owner.
Will an AI video ad agency run my Facebook ads too?
Some do and some do not, so ask before you sign. LYFE Marketing's plans include running the ads. Ad Factory makes the ads but does not run them, so you post them or run them in your own ad account.
Can I try a done-for-you ad team before I pay?
Some teams let you try first. Ad Factory starts with a free image ad and a free video script and storyboard, with no card, so you can judge the writing before you choose a plan.
Do AI video ads look fake?
AI video ads can look fake when nobody checks them, with odd hands, wrong words or a stiff face. The fix is a person checking every ad before it goes live. With a DIY tool that person is you; with a done-for-you team it is the team's quality checker.
Will Facebook label my AI video ads?
Yes, it can. Social Media Today reported in July 2026 that Meta labels ads made with its own AI tools, and ads from third-party tools when it detects industry-standard metadata. That label sits in the "About this ad" menu. See Meta's own post on its AI info labels.
The short version
Whether you pick an app, a freelancer or an AI video ad agency, test it with one real ad first. Then keep the route that gets ads out the door every month without eating your evenings.
